SERVICES OFFERED HVAC Our Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning engineers are often challenged with the task of dealing with buildings with complex loads, stringent environmental criteria, tight clearances, and systems which will have a profound impact on the overall long term operating and servicing costs of your building. Our creative design of HVAC systems integrates these systems into the building design, rather than forcing the building design to conform to an inflexible mechanical system. PIPING K&A engineers are intimately familiar with the design and operation of central chilled water plants, boilers, steam, hot water, heat recovery, and low temperature thermal storage distribution systems. Our piping drawings are fully coordinated with the building, and include detailed calculations to provide you with an efficient delivery system. As is the case with sheet metal, we have extensive experience in creating fully detailed, dimensioned and elevated fabrication quality drawings, permitting construction team members to construct directly from these plans. PLUMBING AND PROCESS PIPING In addition to typical domestic water, waste, vent and storm water systems, we are experienced in working with many process piping systems such as natural gas, vacuum, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, dionized and reverse osmosis water, acid waste, and compressed air for your laboratory, health care or industrial projects. FIRE PROTECTION If you are interested in receiving accurate bids, having a system that is safe and complies with code, performance specifications are not enough to guarantee these results. Our fire protection designs include not only sprinkler head layouts, but also include detailed piping layouts, thorough analysis of hose distances and hose streams, detailed pump room layouts, riser diagrams and review of applicable codes that assist in detailing the precise scope of the project. We are also experienced in many specialty fire protection systems such as pre-action, dry and clean agent. ELECTRICAL Lighting, power distribution, security, life safety, telecommunications, fire alarm, access control, uninterruptible power, and emergency generation are just some of the systems we design for our clients. CODE ANALYSIS Building codes and standards have undergone significant changes in recent years. The recent rewrite of most of the Chicago and International Building Codes, coupled with the adoption of numerous energy related codes and standards such as ASHRAE 90.1, the International Energy Conservation Code and the Chicago Energy Conservation Code have resulted in significant impact on the design of nearly all major systems in a building. Our engineers are intimately involved with these changes. We thoroughly research building codes during each design. Computerized data bases of most building codes and standards assist in providing detailed review of all governing codes and ordinances. BUILDING ANALYSIS Thinking of purchasing a building? COMMISSIONING AND TROUBLE SHOOTING Ketchmark & Associates, Inc. is a "hands on" consultant. We do extensive field surveys and investigation to assist in solving building problems. Whether the problem is renovating your building, making a troubled building work properly, or assuring that new construction performs the way that it was intended, our engineers all spend extensive time in the field. We've found that it is often impossible to accurately and efficiently solve your problem by sitting behind our desk.
